Tutorial: How to Create and Balance a New Character Ability

BANG! has a pretty active modding community, in part due to the ease in which new characters can be added to the game. I have seen numerous custom characters created on Board Game Geek, on the forums at Edge Entertainment, the forums at dvGiochi, here at bang.cz, BANG! Director's Cuts, and at my own BANG! Blog.



A lot of work has gone into creating these characters, and I wanted to provide a tutorial that could help both existing and potential BANG! modders develop new character abilities. The tutorial discusses 3 general strategies for conceiving new abilities for characters, and then provides 6 suggestions that should help in balancing those abilities.
